also... the php dose it use a .ini or mysql

i was thinking maybe to use an .ini for the users contact functions since mysql dont work well.

fixed all that, but now when i try to log in it says wrong username and password, so my question is, did you make any tweaks to the client code because mine wont log in.

says invalid username or password (for all accounts)

thats the problem, my new client isnt dependent on as many external files, and has had a complete gui make over. that why i was wondering if you could tell me what code u changed .

because i cannot find any changes in the script you sent me that would affect the login, because it just plain wont log in.

okay fixed login however

also when a user is added, a array view comes up on the host pc ( i have two computers one that i control remotely and use as my server) and once the array closes the user shows up on the messenger, is there any way to maybe.... skip viewing the array so i dont have to be present for ppl to add other ppl?

i dunno but i think the server don't work right, because i believe it should read 1=online 0=offline buts its making all ACK or (online) u might wanna look at the mysql part of that

this was a partial error, for some reson unless a user logs on and adds you to their account they appear online.

also, you said deleting of users don't work

well i thought when a user is deleted to just save all the users to a varible

erase the user being deleted from the variable, then set the contacts table in mysql to the new string of users (without the user they deleted)

and btw

is using mysql faster?

note: i noticed there is a status value in the mysql table.....

are you planning on implementing a way for a user to have a status beside their name?

if so that would be awsome.

client now only has one file for speech and no speech settings set by msgbox and ini, changeable during program being run so user can get a message with speech on and if they don't like it, they can turn it off. file no longer has startup video. now also displays real name and username (thanks to alex)

alex i know that now all username are stored in mysql.

is there any way to display the usernsmae full name then email in a table kinda like this

lol ofc there is... that's the beauty of mysql/php it's easy to make "plugins"

just put the online.php in the same folder as the other files...

found an error, about 100% of the time, the first time a user logs on the server will say that the array $email[setonline] (or something similar) is a badly formated array

however i made a script to close the msgbox and restart server.exe if it errors out, but still its anoying to be talking, then have someone new signin and be kicked off.

also i was wondering if there would be to make profile pages, and login page

so users can have a dp and like view each others profiles, and bio and picture and such

and if there was a way to store the location of their image in mysql and then when that user sends a message a scaled down version of their dp 30x30 shows up by their name

sorry for asking so much but im still learning php and mysql funcionality and your pages and code is helping me a lot. and i feel that it would be pointless to have me try this and fail over and over and take forever when you are more qualified then me. then i could simply learn off ur script and how it works. also there is a website that i put the pages on so if you could like make a login box on one of the pages then make all their stuff show up another. (like a regualr website just different objects all on the same page) i will upload the template if u need it.

the problem with the users comming online just after they register .. is that the server only loads users at start(that part of the code is still yours) it should load content dinamicaly on login atempt... as for the status page and the other stuff that's a bit hard(making it work with the server because of the implementation of ur script...)

P.S.:the webpage i made is safe from mysql injection... so no security threat there

it wouldn't be that hard i mean i want the web pages to depend on the mysql like sending messages like myspace dose. and allowing users to edit their data from the mysql database and view their online friends all via mysql. and also to delete friends by removing the selected users from the mysql user database for tat users contacts

also i have no idea how to mkae the script load dynamicly

i have got an idea but dotn know how to go about it,... i want users to have their own display pictures

so $suser = the senders username is there a way to read a field named "dp" in the mysql database as the picture b seeing the incoming user's username?

and to change their dp by entering the url in a inpput box?

also one other problem well two that i have no idea how to fix.....

1) this program becomes non repsonsive to users with slower connections peeds after a certain amount of time (how to speed it up)

2)the server proccesses data one peice at at time.

so my question is, is there a way to run about 5 instances of the server on 5 different ports, and have them all interact back and foruth liek one big server, to improve speed and create less packet loss....

and any of these 5 servers could be connected to on any of the 5 ports and not make a difference?

then the client could auto pick a server...

i have not idea hwo to go abotu nay of this or if its even posible

possible ... yes

a good ideea ... not really..

it's rather simple to implement just send all user messages via mysql and run several servers on diffrent ports

and the client has a list of all ports and chooses randomly from one of them....(multi threading would be nice for this it could open as many servers as u would want in the same process and comunicate with each other very easily

so basicly i would just have to put in different ports or different servers and run them all then have a client randomly pick a server, i am way way behind this and i have no idea what multi threading is or hwo to do it, and if u sent messages via mysql wouldent that be slow/

but could you send me an exampel of a server that would implement this, if you told me what i need to do to the server to make it work i could....

think about forums and pm's.... (all pm's are kept in a db) and the way do do it so it wouldn't be slow is:

u must have some special fields in the db:

online status,the tcp socket number of the user(if he is online) and wich server he belongs to.. and to send the messages very fast:each server polls the db for messages to the users that are online on the specific server(and send the data directly to the socket number) and just loop the sockets for incomming data...

since you know mysql could u make server like that that uses different ports and uses mysql.... cause i have noidea how to do eather so could you do that and comment the main parts that make it function..

lol... i did some server editing so users can now change their name. there are 3 server. lol but they still cant all itneract with one another...

right now the user can select one. the first server allows name changed and loads users dynamically, however that made my sign in alert feature glitch. so im working on making that optional, the only thing is that the name changed in the mysql from the client editing the database, that means the user has to install the driver. its been forever since i have messed with the server, so could you give me two short code to put in. one to send the command $cun (Change user name) to the server from the client, and then the server code to look for the user and change their name, and then tell me where to put the code snippets?

i did make a UDP name changing program, seperate from the server, it works like a charm.
