I have a vbscript that I want to convert to an AutoIt script that sets the password for the specified local account.

Here is the vb script:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Set WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network")

strComputer = WshNetwork.ComputerName

strPSWD = "password"

Set objUser = GetObject("WinNT://" & strComputer & "/jdoe,user")

If Err.Number = 0 Then

objUser.SetPassword strPSWD

objUser.SetInfo

End If

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the AutoIt Script:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

$Password = "password"

$objUser = ObjGet("WinNT://" & @ComputerName & "/jdoe,user")

If @error = 0 Then

$objUser.SetPassword $Password

$objUser.SetInfo

EndIf

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The vbscript works fine but I get an error with the AutoIt script. The error is with the line "$objUser.SetPassword $Password". The error message is "The requested action with this object has failed"

Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks,

Joe

Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?

I tried different things and "$objUser.SetPassword($Password)" worked.

I wish there was more documentation on the correct syntax with Objects.

Thanks,

Joe

Try

$objUser.SetPassword = $Password
