try doing it with a listview with small icons or large icons it will look better and dragging will be easyer to implement and you could also make them auto arrange after u drag&drop

This looks nice (haven't tried, but from screenshot) -- but like billthecreator said, how is this better than regular windows shortcuts in desktop?

This can be better if you want 'special' file in there or just dont like to use the desktop somehow.

My desktop is usually 25-90% full. Most people see that and say what the..??

So those people might like a launcher instead of the desktop.
