Not responding tasks in task manager

Hi, I'm building a small video display script.

It runs media player classic. I want to check periodically if the program is running (as I'll be away from my PC).

How can I check its status under task manager? If something goes wrong its status turns from "running" to "not responding", how can I read that?

I know how to start and kill a process, build a loop etc, that is well documented, but unfortunately process.exe doesn't show if the task is responding or not.

I hope you see where I'm going with this, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
