Basically, I am writing my own script to perform a few more options with external drives, so I will have my own remove drive function. This is what I mean: Not quite sure if you can remove the icon but you can hide it. Right click on the Taskbar and go to "Properties". Check "Hide inactive icons" and click "Customize".
