How to convert a Project2007 file to PDF

Recommended Posts

G'day All

I've got a little project to convert multiple Project2007 files to PDF so they can be uploaded.

I've got the recursive search funtion to collect all of the file names almost done.

I've got examples of how to use FTP from AutoIT.

What I'm not sure of is the best way to do the converstion.

They use Primopdf as their pdf printer driver.

I could open Project and throw keyboard commands at it to open & print the files to Primo but I thought maybe someone has a cleaner solution.

Any help?

Thanks in advance

You'll find a COM object model for Project on MSDN, but I don't recall seeing anyone dabbling with it here yet.

Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?

You did not mention if they use the free version of the paid version od Primopdf. The paid version allows batch processing of files.

As an alternative to that paid version, you might convince them to use the free open source PDFCreator. It allows batch processing. PDFCreator also has command line features (/PF<filename>) and a COM interface:

Nearly all [possibilities] of the program are available using the COM Interface. The COM Interface includes Public classes, Public properties, Public methods and Public events.

There are no UDTs used so the [compatibility] will not be broken with any upgrading of UDTs.

There are "self-documenting" names used so that no further description is needed.

It's the "free" verison of course....sigh

That sounds like a winner to me. It's only going to go on one computer and I think the only reason they are using primo is someone recomended it in the past.

The COM interface is a little overkill for this project but maybe usefull in the future.

I'm sure it will! ^_^ THANKS!
