gethostbyaddr in WS2_32.DLL

Has anyone used the gethostbyaddr call in WS2_32.DLL to resolve an IP address to a Netbios name? My ability to use a DLL in a script is rudimentary at best, and my feeble attempts to make this function work are not even worth documenting here. I am currently piping a text file from a NBTSTAT lookup and parsing the results, but as with any such function it adds a lot of time to the script processing. If anyone has used this function and has an example or if they can give any insight into its use, any help that you could render would be appreciated.
