Please can anyone help me in "How to get device ID especially for pen drives"?

I'm working for a portable application and this is needed to identify it even if it is formated.

If possible please post any simple example!

Thanks in advance friends!

And a lot of thanks for AutoIt Team.

I love AutoIt! :)

INFOMASTER,

First, welcome to the AutoIt forums.

Using the Search facility is a good tip as there is a pretty good chance your question, or something like it, has been asked before. Look for the "Search" button to the right in the title bar.

This could well be what you need. :-)

INFOMASTER,

Sorry the last suggestion did not work. Try this thread instead - I found it by searching for "USB +device +ID", by the way. ;-)

Maybe you search for it:

DriveGetSerial ( "path" )

$var = DriveGetSerial( "c:\" )
MsgBox(4096, "Serial Number: ", $var)

It can be used for return ID's of fixed drives and removal: CD,DVD,FLASH-memory, etc..

Just replace "C" on later you need

:D

MELBA23,

THAAANKS A LOT, for last suggestion. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!

The perfect solution!!!

---------------

Vitas,

thanks for trying to help,

anyway I was asking for unique device id that does not change after I format the drive.

By the way, When we format the drive, the serial number changes, that's why I could'n t use

device serial number.

Anyway Thanks.
