Volume mixer in Vista?

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to mute all programs except for the active window?

I'm making a remote controller for my media pc.

Vista has a volume mixer that allows muting specific programs, which is an excellent feature.

Is there an API for it?

I guess my final progam will have buttons with channel names on them,

and when I press on a channel name, it will bring that window to the front, press some keys to maximize it, then mute all other windows.
