StringRegExp matching brackets

Recommended Posts

Good day all

I have a query regarding regular expressions in that I am unable to match brackets. I currently have a regular expression that will match a word on a line (nothing after or before it) with one whitespace after it. So for example if I want to match; howto , I would use "^howto\s$". However if I want to match (howto) as "^(howto)\s$" it does not work.

Can anybody give me any advise on how to match brackets in a regular expression.

Thanks for your help.....

#include<array.au3> ;; For testing with _ArrayDisplay() only
$sTest = "(check) " & @CRLF & "This is some (text) "
$sTest &= @CRLF & "And another (line) to test"

$aReturn = StringRegExp($sTest, "(?:.)*(\(.*\))(?:.)*", 3)
If NOT @Error Then
MsgBox(0, "Error", "The regular expression failed to find valid return values")
