Using SciTE: 'F1 Help' Problem - Not opening help file

5 posts in this topic

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, and am experiencing an issue with SciTE, where the keyboard shortcut 'F1' is not auto-opening the help file, regardless of if I have a keyword selected or not.

I installed Autoit first, using the .exe installation file:

http://www.autoitscript.com/cgi-bin/getfile.pl?autoit3/autoit-v3-setup.exe

I then installed the customized version of SciTE found here:

http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/scite/downloads.shtml

which led to here:

http://www.autoitscript.com/cgi-bin/getfile.pl?../autoit3/scite/download/SciTE4AutoIt3.exe

I also tried manually unzipping the customized SciTE files, and replacing all.

Does anyone have any advice?

You need to save your script into an au3 file for the help button to work.

Ah great thanx!

I saved the new script as a .au3 and now I receive this when pressing F1:

---------------------------

SciTE

---------------------------

Error while launching:

"..\AutoIt3\Autoit3Help.exe"

The specified file was not found.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

... or ...

---------------------------

SciTE

---------------------------

Error while launching:

"..\AutoIt3\Autoit3Help.exe" with Params:

"dim"

The specified file was not found.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

...despite the Autoit3Help.exe file being in "C:\Program Files\AutoIt3" as well as "C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\SciTE". Any other thoughts?

Hmm, I uninstalled Autoit and editor, and reinstalled both.

Help works great. Thanx again for the help!
