Is it possible to have SciTe's Open Code Files List be Shown in a different way?

Recommended Posts

Hello

Currently, open code files in SciTe are shown as Tabs, on the top.

It works good as long as you have aprox. 11 code files open.

If you have more, you need to play with the arrows there, or start close some files.

My question is, Is it possible to change the way it is displayed, to something more similar to Visual Studio's "Solution Explorer"?

where the open code files list is shown on the side instead of on the top, in a regular list(and not tabs),

which enables you to navigate more easily when you have more code files open...

Will upgrading to SciTe Full enable me to get this?

I really don't want to close and reopen code files again and again.

and really don't like long code files(which is what I do now, because of the difficult navigation)

please help me

Thank you

I have had only a couple of times when I more than 11 files open at the same time.

Maybe you could compile a couple and use "Scite Tools" like to run them?

(:

My project, has 20 files.

And I would even divide it to more files because right now each file is longgggg.

The reason I do not divide it to more files, is because of the difficult navigation..

This option will create multiple rows of Tabs instead of one line:

tabbar.multiline=1

Add it to your SciTEUser.properties and restart SciTE.

There is a Help available for SciTE and all its setting. :)

ps: I will set this option in the standard SciTEGlobal.properties distributed in the Full version of SciTE4AutoIt3.

Hello Jos :)

I do not have a SciTEUser.properties file in the C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\SciTE folder.

Only SciTE.exe and au3.keywords.properties.

Should I create one?

BTW, is there a webpage saying what are the differences between the built-in SciTe and SciTE4AutoIt3?

Thank you

Use the SciTE Options menu to open the SciTEUser.properties and it is not stored in the SciTE directory but in your users Applicationdata directory.

I would always recommend using the full version (obviously). All info about the extra's is documented in its sub-website on the AutoIt3 website.

Hi Jos

After some time, I am returning to this subject again..

2 Row tabs is indeed a solution for some time,

but for the long term, it would b really great if SciTe would have a Solution Explorer style navigation, like in Visual Studio.

With a TreeView, that shows the files hierarchically, in the folders they are, and that is vertically scrollable..

Can you please create it?

The developers of SciTE can be reached here, as that is something I think they'd have to implement.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
