Avast 4.8 seeing ALL AutoIt .exe's as virus

Recommended Posts

As of last night's update to the virus definitions for Avast 4.8, it is seeing any .exe compiled with AutoIt 3.1 (compressed with UPX or not) as having a Malware-Gen virus. This is of course a false positive, but is going to cause you (if you use Avast) and your users (if you distribute your application) no end of headaches. I, and no doubt others, have reported this to Avast, so hopefully it will be corrected in an update as soon as possible.

Update:

I just updated my Avast virus definitions this morning and it seems to be resolved. Whew!

Avast is always very fast about fixing that. The important part is reporting it since they can't fix what they don't know about.

Question about decompiling code? Read the decompiling FAQ and don't bother posting the question in the forums.

Be sure to read and follow the forum rules. -AKA the AutoIt Reading and Comprehension Skills test.***

The PCRE (Regular Expression) ToolKit for AutoIT - (Updated Oct 20, 2011 ver:3.0.1.13) - Please update your current version before filing any bug reports. The installer now includes both 32 and 64 bit versions. No change in version number.
