Help Defining Arrays

Recommended Posts

Okay I declare an array with a certain # of elements that was in var form and it all goes well.

But when I try to define the array like so I get an error:

$NumberofPrograms = IniRead("KickStart.ini", "General Settings", "NumberofPrograms", "Ini Cannot Be Read")
$ExeLocation[$NumberofPrograms]
For $i = 1 to $NumberofPrograms
$ExeLocation[$i] = IniRead("KickStart.ini", "Program"&$i, "ExeLocation", "Ini Cannot Be Read")
Next

I get the error:

==> Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded.:

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the AutoIt forum!

This is an FAQ: AutoIt arrays use 0-based index. So your code should be:

$NumberofPrograms = IniRead("KickStart.ini", "General Settings", "NumberofPrograms", "Ini Cannot Be Read")
$ExeLocation[$NumberofPrograms]
For $i = 0 to $NumberofPrograms - 1
$ExeLocation[$i] = IniRead("KickStart.ini", "Program"&$i, "ExeLocation", "Ini Cannot Be Read")
Next

Now what exactly is supposed to happen if ever $NumberofPrograms = 0?

Have fun.
