Why use a flat text file when all the functionality for handling INI files is built into AutoIT?

$sIni = @ScriptDir & "\my.ini"

GUICtrlSeData($hInput, IniRead($sIni, "Section", "Input", ""))

Then when you need to write that value to the file use

IniWrite($sIni, "Section", "Input", GUICtrlRead($hInput))

Maybe because an input box might have $ES_MULTILINE? I've noticed that in a lot of your replies you seem to assume that the OP doesn't know what they are doing. Maybe they do. Edited by PhilHibbs

Okay, before you get into a big arguments.

1. What's $ES_MULTILINE?

2. Are there any cons I should know about using INI's.

I'm not a total newbie in this area, I handled INI's a lot when I did some game modding.

First I don't feel like expending the energy it takes to argue on the forums.

$ES_MULTILINE sets the input to a multi-line control as opposed to the standard single line (standard) which is what I assumed you were using.

The Ini method can also be made to work with a multi-line control but it gets trickier.

There should be no problem with the INI file. Just use it the way I outlined it above.

FWI: the GUICtrlSeData, was a typo and should have been GUICtrlSetData()
