Registry Key deletion

5 posts in this topic

I need to run the registry as an admin and delete all occurances of "DefaultConnectionSettings" and "SavedLegacySettings". I can launch Regedit as an admin but don't know how to pass the search and delete functions to it.

See RegEnumValue() and RegDelete(). I'm not sure what permissions are required for those keys though.

So after doing my:

RunAs ( "ADMIN", "DOMAIN", "Password", 4 , "regedit" )

I can send the RegEnum and RegDelete and it'll take under what I already have opened?

Like I said, I'm not sure about the required permissions. Admin isn't high enough for some registry keys and I used a third party tool to remove all permissions from my registry so I can't check what the normal ones are.

Depending on how you have your script built, you may want to look at the #RequireAdmin.

You can place this as the very first line in your script. Then, when launched, will prompt for credentials if the user is not a local admin on the machine.

This will then run the entire script with those credentials.
