Run Program At Startup CPU Usage

Recommended Posts

I am creating a script that will run when the computer starts up. It will wait until a webpage exist and then perform task.

My problem is when my script starts up my CPU usage goes from 2% to 50% while it is waiting for the webpage to exist.

Is there a way to run a script that will use less CPU usage while waiting for a webpage to exist?

I've the scripts below with no success...

Script 1:

#include <IE.au3>

Global $Webpage

$WebpageTitle = "Google"

AdlibEnable("_Main")

While 1

WEnd

Func _Main()
    If WinExists($WebpageTitle) Then
        MsgBox(0, "Debug", "Successful...")
        WinWaitClose($WebpageTitle)
    EndIf
EndFunc     ;==>_Main

Script 2:

#include <IE.au3>

Global $WebpageTitle, $oIE, $colSpanTag, $stContacts, $ostContacts

$WebpageTitle = "Google"

While 1
    _Main()
WEnd

Func _Main()
    If WinExists($WebpageTitle) Then
        MsgBox(0, "Debug", "Successful...")
        WinWaitClose($WebpageTitle)
    EndIf
EndFunc     ;==>_Main

Thank you for your help,

Use a Sleep command after the call to _main to check every 10 seconds or so.

If you do not, the While loop and WinExists calls will eat all the processing power they can get (one of two processors in your case I'd guess).

jfcby,

Put a Sleep(10) in your tight While...WEnd loops. :blink:

Thank you SKlocke and Melba23 for your help!

With further research I found this link _HighPrecisionSleep that works perfect.
