Maybe stupid question: what for is AutoIt?

Yeah I know it's stupid question but WHAT FOR IS AUTOIT? Most time i hear about it then its about game macros... Is it possible to write game in AutoIt? Or AutoIt is made for making programs like paint,notepad or Microsoft XP? I need to know before i choose to stay with this programming language. [i still love AutoIt for how easy it is]
