Find Current Focus Of GUI Window

3 posts in this topic

i am creating a gui with multiple input controls, each with their own button assigned to them.

i want to make it so that when a control is activated, its corresponding button becomes the default button (activated when enter is pressed)

i have tried the GuiGetMsg() command, but it only tells me the previously active control, and not the current one.

is there an easy way to find what control is active?

thanks.

legoman1,

You can use _WinAPI_GetFocus to get the currently focused control. ;)

But beware, it uses handles, not ControlIDs, so you need to get the handles of your inputs using GUICtrlGetHandle before you start making any comparisons.

Hint: Store the handles in an array once you get them - makes it much easier to run through them with the return from the API call. :)

or to make it simpler...

Run("notepad.exe")
WinWait("[CLASS:Notepad]")
$a = ControlGetFocus("[CLASS:Notepad]")
MsgBox(0, "", $a)

Control get focus gets, and now a quote for the helpfile, "The ClassnameNN value as used in previous versions of AutoIt, such as "Edit1""

This particular instance will return Edit1... Let me know if there is anything else.
