Scripting.Dictionary & Window Handles

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have this piece of code that fails.

$d = ObjCreate("Scripting.Dictionary")

$d("handle") = WinActivate("Untitled - Notepad")

It returns this error:

$d("handle") = WinActivate("Untitled - Notepad")

$d("handle") = WinActivate("Untitled - Notepad")^ ERROR

I'm not sure how to get this window handle into the dictionary. Btw, "Untitled - Notepad" has to exist for it to fail.

thanks in advance.

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :graduated:

The scripting dictionary will not accept a handle - you need to use Number() or String() to get it into another format to save it - and then HWnd() to change it back when you retrieve it. :(

It was discussed a while ago in this topic. :D
