Get the value of _GUICtrlDTP_Create element?

I'm attempting to access the form value of an element I created using _GUICtrlDTP_Create. I figured it would be doable just using GUICtrlRead like most form elements, but that does not seem to be the case (I just get "0", regardless of what the field actually says). What do I need to do? It's been surprisingly hard to find any information on this. Thanks for the help!

This is basically what I've tried (this is just using the example script, but is the same result I was getting):

When you click on "Exit", it's supposed to output whatever value is in the date picker combobox, but it just always outputs "0".
