Why is this

$pos = ControlGetPos("", "", $hEdit2)
MsgBox(0, "Window Stats:", "POS: " & $pos[0] & "," & $pos[1] & " SIZE: " & $pos[2] & "," & $pos)
producing this error

F:\Backup\AutoIt\Test Area\Test.au3 (30) : ==> Subscript used with non-Array variable.:

MsgBox(0, "Window Stats:", "POS: " & $pos[0] & "," & $pos[1] & " SIZE: " & $pos[2] & "," & $pos)

MsgBox(0, "Window Stats:", "POS: " & $pos^ ERROR

thanks....

I just tried the example script from the AutoIT3 help files and I get the same error.

EDIT

I just tried the same script again except that I inserted a sleep(100) right after the line that runs Notepad and it worked for me after I did that. I'm guessing that the problem is that the window isn't showing up fast enough for the script to see it unless I pause it briefly.

Perhaps your script should make sure that the program is running before you check it. BTW, you're not using a window title in the script, not sure what the results of that will do.

The help file example errors because it tries to get the position before Notepad has a chance to start. Try running it when you have Notepad already opened.

Yeah, I just found that out, and edited my comment. Oh well, bad example script in the help files I guess.

Finally found it - the handle to the Gui must be in the first parameter. Yea, bad example:

$hEdit2 = GUICtrlCreateEdit("now is the time for ", 170, 10, 150, 300)
$pos = ControlGetPos($hWnd, "", $hEdit2)
