Lope Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) I'm trying to keep my EXE as small as possible (its x86, UPX packed). I need some kind of window that can be minimized which has a low program memory footprint. When adding this small window (with a bit of control code) $frmConn = GUICreate("Remote Control", 337, 89, 192, 114) $Label1 = GUICtrlCreateLabel("Minimize this window or close to end the remote control session.", 16, 16, 304, 17) $btnMinimize = GUICtrlCreateButton("Minimize", 112, 48, 97, 25, $WS_GROUP) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) GUISetState(@SW_MINIMIZE) The EXE size increased by 250KB. Is there a way I can make a MsgBox or similar which can be minimized? (want to keep EXE size to a minimum) Is there a way to make a MsgBox that doesn't stop AutoIt execution? then I could 'send it back' behind the other windows, at least. Moderators Melba23 Posted February 19, 2011 Moderators Posted February 19, 2011 Lope,You have misunderstood the "compilation" process. AutoIt as actually an interpreted language - "compilation" merely adds your script to the interpreter stub (AutoItSC.bin). This includes ALL of the AutoIt interpreter- not just the parts you need for the script in question. So adding those few lines will only increase the uncompressed executable by approximately that number of bytes (there is some bespoke compression of the script as well). If you have had a 250kb increase you are doing something else in addition to adding those few lines. Are you somehow preventing upx from running? Bowmore Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 If you run Obfuscator.exe on your script with the /StripOnly option it will reduce the size of your script by removing any unnecessary code form your script and any includes you have used.
