Picking Up Text From FireFox?

10 posts in this topic

Is there a way in which AutoIt can detect specific text on a website? I have already tried a few ways, which did not work.

Any help is helpful.

I want it to check to see if a page is broken, or if it's working. Example: 404 error.

Lots of pages intercept 404 errors and give custom errors, but for the traditional resonse this will work...

Const $URL = "http://www.w3c.com/there-is-no-page-here.htm"
$ObjIE=ObjCreate("InternetExplorer.Application")

With $ObjIE
  .Visible = True
  .Navigate($URL)
  Do
    Sleep(50)
  Until .ReadyState = 4
EndWith

ConsoleWrite($ObjIE.document.body.innerhtml)

If StringInStr( $ObjIE.document.body.innerhtml, "HTTP 404 - File not found") Then
MsgBox( 0, "404 Error", "HTTP 404 - File not found")
Else
    MsgBox( 0, "OK", "Not a 404 Error")
EndIf

How could I add this to a working script? When I tried adding the code that you gave me to my script, all it did was show an error. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Firefox doesnt support COM objects to my knowledge at this time. I am trying to get into the development of Firefox and either suggest they add it, and or some other type of support.

I am guessing they dont use COM because Firefox isnt a windows based browser. It is usable across multiple operating systems.

You can make dirty functions using MouseClick() and such, but it really wont be a good way to do it.
