NeedsHelp
First off, Hello! im new to autoit and new to these forums. I thought i was smart enough to follow basic instructions but apparently not! New to this program i started by running the Hello World script in the tutorial. no problem there. So i moved on to "Simple Notepad Automation" However my window will not close.... now i usually write scripts from memory to train myself, however after copying and pasting the code from the tutorial... my window will still not close, its stuck waiting for me to save or not. Here it is Run("notepad.exe") WinWaitActive("Untitled - Notepad") Send("This is some text.") WinClose("Untitled - Notepad") WinWaitActive("Notepad", "Do you want to save") Send("!n") Im sorry if this is a really dumb question but im trying my hardest to learn this and im a bit stuck as to what im doing wrong. Thank you for your help Me..
BrewManNH
Windows Vista or Windows 7? The window text has changed in those versions from when the example was made, which works in Windows XP. You'd have to change the WinWaitActive("Notepad", "Do you want to save") to WinWaitActive("Notepad", "&Save") to work in those OSs. EDIT: typo Edited September 23, 2011 by BrewManNH If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day.
