Listening out for inputs.

Hi,

I've just got started using AutoIt and I have to say I am smitten

I wanted to start a project which would require having AutoIt receive commands from another computer (I only need to send 5 or 6 commands so nothing too stressful). That means I need to have my au3 script open a port and listen out for signals sent via a cable of some sort. I have spent some time looking at some of the help threads etc available and have gotten fairly confused. I principally thought I could just connect a USB to USB and send some signal down it but that looks more complex than I imagined (in olden days I had parallel ports). The PC is modern, has a bunch of USB ports. What is the simplest way to do it? Do I need to get Serial to USB converters? Seems a bit weird just to receive a few pulses down a cable. It is however late and my brain is fried

Any advice before embarking warmly welcomed.... and I'll have a go in the morning

Many thanks

Adam
