Grabbing state of a listbox

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to automate updating of Spybot Search & Destroy version 2.x, for a live CD build. I have no problem pushing the correct buttons. The difficulty is in determining when the update is finished. There is a view in which files needing updates are listed, and if that view is empty then it's done:

However, when I use this code:

$Handle = ControlGetHandle("Update (Spybot - Search & Destroy 2.0.9.0 - build 20120704, administrator privileges)","","[CLASS:TListView]")
$StatusArray = _GUICtrlListView_CreateArray($Handle)
_FileWriteFromArray2D("D:\ListView.txt",$StatusArray)

I get all the contents of the listbox in "everything" view (see attached).

How can I detect that the listview is empty?

_GUICtrlListView_GetItemCount() might help in this case, it tells you how many items are in the ListView. Of course, you'll have to be sure you check it after you've changed the view that shows the remaining files to be updated.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Ah, but you inspired me to take a look; _GUICtrlListBox_GetText($hwnd,0) seems to return a strange character when the list box is showing items and a null string when it's not. There's more to check out and test but that looks like the key...
