Read text from GUI app - beginner question

I need to read some text from GUI application. This app monitor some devices for signal values, but provide output only in the GUI window what is the problem because values cannot be automatically processed by other scripts and progs.

I can t find any tutorial focused to this problematics, than I ask here for some suggested resources or script examples. Unfortunatelly I have no experinece with programming, only win shell scripts.

As I study AutoIT concept, first I have to research with "window info" about some "element names", tabs, radio buttons, listbox and so on, which will be used as a targets in the autoit script. Also I read here the "way" how the program is writen does matter. I do not know how my program is written but if somebody want to check it....
