Newbie and SQLIte

Ok Im new to AutoIT and trying to get it to write to an SQLite DB.

Evereything was going fantastic until I attempted to write a variable value to a field rather then hardset value;

$name = "Whatever"

_SQLite_Exec($hDskDb,"INSERT INTO Packages (Packagename) VALUES ($name)")

When I issue the following command it always writes $name to the field rather then the variable value of "Whatever", I have tried mutiple different ways of structuring the command to get it to write the variable value rather then $name but had no luck :(

Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

No automatic variable interpolation in AutoIt or rather I don't recommend it.

Try this:

$name = "Whatever"

_SQLite_Exec($hDskDb,"INSERT INTO Packages (Packagename) VALUES (" & _SQLite_FastEscape($name) & ")")
