Tapes
So quick question! I have an excel file right now with about 160 columns and only 2 rows. I am putting the excel into an array, which is the array is formatted to look exactly like an excel sheet by the number of columns and rows. However, some of the entries in the second row will be empty. I am triyng to write code to look at each cell in the second row to determine if the cell is empty. If the cell is empty I want to delete that WHOLE column, so that way I'm left with the columns that have text filled in the second row of the columns. My code I provided below, but any help would be great! Thanks #include <Excel.au3> #include <Array.au3> Local $array,$path $path = "Path to Excel File" $Excel = _ExcelBookOpen($path,1) $array = _ExcelRowDelete($Excel,2,1) $array = _ExcelReadSheetToArray($Excel,1,1,0,0) For $i = 0 To $array[0][0] If($array[2][$i] == "") Then _ArrayDeleteCol($array,$i) EndIf Next _ArrayDisplay($array) Func _ArrayDeleteCol(ByRef $avWork, $iCol) If Not IsArray($avWork) Then Return SetError(1, 0, 0); Not an array If UBound($avWork, 0) <> 2 Then Return SetError(1, 1, 0); Not a 2D array If ($iCol < 0) Or ($iCol > (UBound($avWork, 2) - 1)) Then Return SetError(1, 2, 0); $iCol out of range If $iCol < UBound($avWork, 2) - 1 Then For $c = $iCol To UBound($avWork, 2) - 2 For $r = 0 To UBound($avWork) - 1 $avWork[$r][$c] = $avWork[$r][$c + 1] Next Next EndIf ReDim $avWork[UBound($avWork)][UBound($avWork, 2) - 1] Return 1 EndFunc
BrewManNH
I wonder sometimes why the forum has a search feature if no one can be bothered to use it? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Tapes
I actually use _ArrayDeleteColumn in my code to delete the columns, but I needed more help on writing a for loop to look at each individual cell in row two and determine whethere that cell is blank. And if the cell is blank I want to delete the whole column.
GMK
Loop from the last column to the first column in your array and check the values in your row. If it's blank, delete the column in Excel (or the array). For $iVariable = UBound($avArray, 2) To 0 Step -1 If $avArray[2][$iVariable] = "" Then _ArrayDeleteCol($avArray, $iVariable) Next Edited July 24, 2013 by GMK
