Please I need help. I am trying to open a excel add-in file with autoit bit. Any time I run the exe, I get the error  {$oAddIn = $oExcel.AddIns.Add($sAddIn)^ERROR}

$sAddIn ="C:UsersDocumentsiMacrosMacrosTest Consolidator v8.xlam" ;
$oExcel = ObjCreate("Excel.Application")
$oExcel.Visible=1
$oExcel.WorkBooks.Add
;okkkk
$oAddIn = $oExcel.AddIns.Add($sAddIn)
$oAddIn.Installed = False
Sleep(5000)
$oExcel.Quit
Exit

Please help.

mark1983,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

But please pay attention to where you post - the "Developer Chat" section where you started this thread is not for general support questions. I have moved the thread for you, but would ask you to be more careful in future. ;)

mark1983,

Really? I am surprised at this as although new members have certain restrictions that is pretty obviously not among them. :wacko:

Would you be kind enough to make another attempt to start a thread in "General help and Support" to test? :)

Is the path to your addin set correctly? What is the complete output in the SciTE output pane when you run your script?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

Thanks for your response. Here is my output below:

>"C:Program Files (x86)AutoIt3SciTE..autoit3.exe" /ErrorStdOut "C:UsersDocumentsAutoItconsolidation.au3"
C:UsersDocumentsAutoItconsolidation.au3 (7) : ==> The requested action with this object has failed.:
$oAddIn = $oExcel.AddIns.Add("$sAddIn")
$oAddIn = $oExcel.AddIns.Add("$sAddIn")^ ERROR
>Exit code: 1    Time: 1.439

Any help will be appreciated.

You have the variable inside quotes, you're trying to .Add a string containing $sAddin, and not the value of $sAddin.
