search array and create new array

Recommended Posts

im trying to search my array, then save it as new array which then turns to string but its failing:

Local $FileList = _FileListToArray("C:\")
Local $avResult = _ArrayFindAll($FileList, "123", 0, 0, 0, 1, 1)

_ArrayDisplay($avResult, "Results")

; The new array will have the same number of columns

Local $aNewArray = UBound($avResult)

For $i = 0 To UBound($avResult) -1 ; Loop through the returned index numbers.
$aNewArray[$i] = $FileList[$avResult[$i]] ; Populate the new array.
Next

_ArrayDisplay($aNewArray, "New Array")
Global $sFileList = _ArrayToString($aNewArray, "|")

GUICtrlSetData($combobox, $sFileList)
msgbox (0, "t", $sFileList)

It fails at '$aNewArray[$i] = $FileList[$avResult[$i]] ; Populate the new array.'

cookiemonster,

You need to declare your $aNewArray correctly: ;)

Local $aNewArray[UBound($avResult)]

cookiemonster,

if its possible to wildcard search with arrayfindall?

Looking at the code it calls _ArraySearch which uses StringInStr - so it would appear not. :(

But as it seems you are looking for items the names of which contain a certain string, why are you going about it in this roundabout way? Why not use the filter in _FileListToArray (which does accept wildcards) to list only those files in the first place? :huh:

This finds all files with "dlc" in their names:

#include <Array.au3>
#include <File.au3>

Local $FileList = _FileListToArray("C:\", "*dlc*", 1)
Global $sFileList = _ArrayToString($FileList, "|", 1, 0)

MsgBox(0, "t", $sFileList)
Try that with your "123" and see what you get. :)
