you could have ti move the parent script to a temp folder, install the new files, and if a failure occurs replace the parent script and continue

just want to clarify

update script copies new parent to temp folder

replace old parent with new parent

if it fails continue running old parent script

I have done this with a ftp server , the main script checks for an update in a txt from the server if needs update downloads an uppdate script and runs it, the update script closses the main script downloads an list of files that it got from the txt and runs the new main script and exits, the main script has an if file exist then delete <update script>

I have everything compiled and included in my installer program that simply fileinstalls the updated program to the same location which overwrites everything.
