Is there any compile optimizations planned?

Recommended Posts

Hello.

It seems when script being compiled, the compiler includes every single constant, function, etc into the the file. Not only this blows up the final filesize, but also wastes memory when the program is running.

In my tests, a script with 5 includes would become 726KB .exe file and uses up 27MB of ram when running. But when the same script cleaned up by eliminating all unused functions from these UDFs (I copied all used functions into script itself), then the final size become 353KB and uses up 13MB of ram. This is 50% difference for the same functionality.

Now I'm just curious, are there any plans to optimize the compiler at all?

VAN0,

There is no "compiler optimisation" as there is no real ""compiling" that takes place. But if you download and install the full SciTE4AutoIt package you get the Obfuscator tool which, when run with the StripOnly directive, removes all unused contants and functions before compilation. :)

VAN0,

Well, that's just cruel!

Thanks for the info.
