Radiance
Hi, FileOpenDialog only returns a path for a file, usable in further operations like FileMove, FileOpen, FileDelete etc. FileOpen returns a handle for reading and writing. What's better about the Microsoft API?

What's better about the Microsoft API? I protect my script from decompilation and this protection prevent us to use "FileOpendialog" and "FileSavedialog". I just need to use the Windows API. MikahS
You can always use the winAPI functions for this _WinAPI_GetOpenFileName ; opens the open dialog box to specify file you'd like to open and _WinAPI_GetSaveFileName ; use this to get the save dialog box to specify the file you'd like to save Edited September 30, 2014 by MikahS orax 1 Snips & Scripts My Snips: graphCPUTemp ~ getENVvarsMy Scripts: Short-Order Encrypter - message and file encryption V1.6.1 ~ AuPad - Notepad written entirely in AutoIt V1.9.4 Feel free to use any of my code for your own use. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted September 30, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) @MasterFrench, if you look at the MSDN you will see even MS suggests not using this function. If the AutoIt function is not good enough (still not clear on why not), you should be trying to mimic CreateFile, not OpenFile. Moderators Melba23 Posted September 30, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 30, 2014 MasterFrench,Please explain in detail why you do not want to use the AutoIt File* functions to call the API (because that is all they do) or I am going to close this. Merely mentioning that 'this protection prevent us to use "FileOpendialog" and "FileSavedialog"' is not an explanation - if this 'protection' is that strict what makes you think you can call other API functions without problem? Anyway you have a couple of hours to respond (et en francais par moyen d'un MP si tu preferes).
