String Replace in array not working

I have a 2d array with a date field. I'm pulling this data from a SQLDB which makes it so the date always shows: "1900-01-01" if no date was specified. I want to clear those fields if they are not defined.

    $ViewParams=$sqlRsCaseParams.GetRows
    if UBound($ViewParams)>0 Then
    For $p=0 to UBound($ViewParams) -1
        If $ViewParams[$p][1] = '1900-01-01' Then
                ConsoleWrite($ViewParams[$p][1]&@CRLF)
            StringReplace($ViewParams[$p][1],'1900-01-01','')
        EndIf
    Next
    _ArrayDisplay($ViewParams,"Entered Values",Default,16+64,@TAB,"Name|Date|SearchType")
    EndIf

I can see the 1900-01-01 show up on the console, but the 1900-01-01 still shows up on the _arraydisplay. Am I missing something?

Why not just use something like this?
 

If $ViewParams[$p][1] = '1900-01-01' Then
            ConsoleWrite($ViewParams[$p][1] & @CRLF)
            $ViewParams[$p][1] = ''
        EndIf

You already know that the value is there, so all you need to do is blank it out, stringreplace is overkill for that.

Can't you just use SQL to output the data in the format you want?

Something like:

select col_first, case col_date when '1900-01-01' then '' else col_date end, col_next, ... from mytable ... where...

You'll need to adjust with actual column names and test the right value. I used '1900-01-01' since I've no idea which SQL engine you use and how it stores/compares dates, invalid dates and null dates.

Your syntax is wrong, try this...

$ViewParams[$p][1] = StringReplace($ViewParams[$p][1],'1900-01-01','')

It would be better to follow jchd's suggestion and avoid the whole problem.

This is what I needed! Thanks!

I use the date in date format in other parts of the script (I'm curling data from one DB to another so keeping it in the format is easier then converting back and forth). I only want places where the data will be visible to hide the date. I figured a string replace was the simplest way.
