Entering My Username and Password

I am very very new to this. I would like to know if I can automaticly populate the username and password which are needed on a web page. How does one go about doing this. It is actualy a web interface for my home router. I am trying to automate connecting and disconnecting from the ISP. This would be very usefull in other circumstances on any secure web site I am sure.
