jrn Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) Can someone explain to me why this is not working? expandcollapse popup#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> Example() Func Example() ; Create a GUI with various controls. Local $hGUI = GUICreate("Example", 95, 100) Local $idwrite = GUICtrlCreateButton("write to ini", 5, 40, 85, 25) Local $idread = GUICtrlCreateButton("read from ini", 5, 65, 85, 25) Local $input = GUICtrlCreateInput("", "5", "10") Local $read = IniRead("test.ini", "SECTION", "SAVED", "") ; Display the GUI. GUISetState(@SW_SHOW, $hGUI) ; Loop until the user exits. While 1 Switch GUIGetMsg() Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE ExitLoop Case $idwrite IniWrite("test.ini", "SECTION", "SAVED", GUICtrlRead($input)) GUICtrlSetData($input, "") MsgBox("", "", "Data now stored in INI file. Press the 'read from ini' button to retrive data.") ;ShellExecute(@ScriptName) ; Starts another instance of the script. ;Exit ; Exits the script. Case $idread GUICtrlSetData($input, "") GUICtrlSetData($input, $read) EndSwitch WEnd EndFunc ;==>Example I can make it work by adding ShellExecute(@ScriptName) Exit after the MsgBox, but i would hate to settle for that Any ideas? Solution BrewManNH Posted December 14, 2014 Solution Posted December 14, 2014 You're only reading from the INI file at the start of the script, you write to it, but never read it back. The only way it would work is to move the IniRead line into the While loop and after the Case $idread. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. jrn Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) You're only reading from the INI file at the start of the script, you write to it, but never read it back. The only way it would work is to move the IniRead line into the While loop and after the Case $idread. It worked! Thank you. But why didn't it work when i was calling $read from inside the while loop, and under 'Case $idread'? Nvm I think i get it Thanks! Edited December 14, 2014 by jrn
