Controls in VB.NET programs

4 posts in this topic

I've tried to automate a test of a program, written in VB.NET with AutoIt. I had problems to identify many controls, like the menubar or textboxes with AutoIt Window Info. I don't want to activate a control by using its screen coordinates. Does anyhone have experiences with AutoIt and VB.NET programs and controls?

Hi!

Some times ago I read in the forums, that .net applictions are not reachable through AutoIt. And as the .net-code is translated on-the-fly to pseudo-machine code by Windows, it should be not easy to access them. You could identify the controls' positions with PixelGetColor if it is very important, or do the things by keyboard.

Welcome to the forums!

Check out the _ControlGetHandleByPos() UDF which will allow you to determine a handle to a control through its position. You could then use this handle with ControlCommand(), ControlClick() etc.
