GUICtrlCreateAvi problems starting

I'm having issues with this starting automatically when my control starts off hidden. But when it starts off being displayed there is no issue in starting automatically. The problem is I can't update the state...as far as I know...because I'm showing and hiding it from a separate process/app. Any ideas or workarounds? It's originally being called like:

GUICtrlCreateAvi($IMAGE_GENERAL_ARRAY[31], 0, 135, 435, 285, 40, $ACS_AUTOPLAY)
        GUICtrlSetState(-1, $GUI_HIDE)

I originally tried an animated gif, but I know that's a no go with autoit.

Thanks.

Cant you delete the instance and recreate it? Is this embedded in another gui window? Could you start the window shown and then hide the window? Does that work?

Get Scite to add a popup when you use a 3rd party UDF -> http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/scite/docs/SciTE4AutoIt3/user-calltip-manager.html

ControlShow/ControlHide is probably what you're looking for.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
