SciTE: Change the underscore ("_") character to be shorter

Hello,
I am trying to edit the font that SciTE use and in the font I want to change this:
_

I want to change that this underscore character will be shorter. And then make that SciTE will use the modified font
I didn't found any program that can make normal ttf file.. I tried. some programs didn't work, some did not export to ttf..

I do not care how it will be done .. I just want to do it (as it says in the title).

To achieve that you can search for a font that has a short underscore glyph or create your own font, which is a lot of work. Here is a list of some free tools that will enable you to create your own font.
