Compiled scripts get extra icons

 Share

Recommended Posts

For quite some time, I've noticed many of my compiled scripts get extra icons defined whenever I specify a custom icon with #AutoIt3Wrapper_Icon=.

I've attached an example of what Windows shows for Properties >> Change Icon.  This particular case has the original and 3 extras.  But others only have the "+box" as an extra.  I'll mention that I haven't seen any extras other than the red X, the "+box" and a blank icon.

Can anyone explain where these are coming from and how to eliminate them?

Thanks in advance for any help.

qwert,

These "additional" icons have been present since I have been using AutoIt. The "red X" is used to indicate a  "paused script" in the tray icon - possibly if you remove the default tray menu by using Opt("TrayMenuMode", 1) they are not automatically included.

Indeed, that makes sense.  The ones (of mine) that don't have the red X don't use the default tray menu.  I'll be able to add that statement to others.

The "+box" is not so bad.  But maybe, someday, there can be an option to omit it as a choice.  I can't imagine any user selecting it as a desktop icon.  It just seems to introduce an element of doubt in a user's mind... as in "what is that for?".

Thanks, again.

@VIP: thanks for the suggestion.  I had no idea you could remove so many elements from a compiled script.  I was able to remove all three extra icons from one of my scripts ... and even edit some of the embedded messages, as a test.

It seems to be working just fine.  I'll keep close watch for problems.
