how to check if a file is in use

is it possbile to check, if a file is in use ?

other question - if i get back -1 when i use fileopen is that the ONLY meaning, that the file is in use at the moment ?

Yes, I think that is the normal way to check if a file is already in use. Check if the fileExists and if that is OK, then try to open with paying attention to the @error statement.
