_FileWriteToLine fails on empty line. Why?

Recommended Posts

This script fails:

#include<file.au3>
_FileWriteToLine ("C:\temp\claytest.txt",1, "clay's new text",true)
; this won't write if the file is empty

;returns error

1 - File has fewer lines than $iLine

I've also tried writing to line 0 "then get error 4 : line is invalid.

Mr. Analogy,

This was a design decision not to allow the UDF to write to non-existent lines. However, the next release will feature an updated version of the function which will give the user the option to increase the file size to allow the line to be written.

@Mr. Analogy
If you want to write in a specific line, I would suggest you to write some blank text, like:

FileWriteLine($hFile, "") ; This, will make the first line as "non-empty", so you can proceed with _FileWriteToLine()

Then, If you want to write at line 1 some text like what you posted, you can use _FileWriteToLine.
Let us what do you think about :)
