How to read a binary file?

Recommended Posts

hi, i have a binary file .bin and when i try to read it only reads the first 219 characters.

if i read the file without BinarytoString i get 0x321334234... which is not what i want, i want to read the ascii characters. if i add 16 to fileopen the file is still 0x321334234... so i need BinaryToString.

can someone tell me what im missing/doing wrong?

$Handle = FileOpen("file.bin", 0)
$Read = FileRead($Handle)
$Read = BinaryToString($Read)

MsgBox("","",$Read)

file.bin

See help under FileOpen: $FO_BINARY (16) = Force binary mode

Note that reading a file as binary contradicts the desire to "read ascii characters". The latter won't work if there are unexpected control characters like NUL and such.

You need an hex editor.
