Item selection from drop down box list

Recommended Posts

ShaunWW

Hi,

Can anyone offer advice on how to select a specific line item from a drop down list box. Currently I can access the list box and I use the arrow down function to the end of the list followed by two arrow up commands. This selects the correct line item. However, I cannot be assured that the line item required will always be 2 up from the bottom.

I know the text for the item is "Recall" from a list of say "Back", "Email", "Recall", "Letter" and "Ignore".

Look forward to any help.

Kindest regards, Shaun

Is this third party software?  Or an Autoit script?  If its third party you could look at the _GuiCtrlListBox_* functions.

Sounds like a ComboBox control.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

Yes it is a combo box. Initially blank but has five or so items in when clicked with mouse. Can't seam to use the _GUICtrllist or combo function to do anything with it. Have tried to find the text string, select the text string etc to no avail. Being a newbie to this I'm not surprised. I'll keep on looking for solution.

Thanks Shaun

Open the AU3Info tool and let us know if you can see the control information in there.
