Please help, ControlGetText advice

when i use the auto it tool on a control, the text that is displayed ont he control is shown on the tool, but when i attempt to extract it using the controlgettext command i get a blank string, can anyone tell me what is going wrong, and if there is another way to obtain the control text

Don't know if it'll help but I've sometimes found that using ControlGetFocus before ControlGetText or ControlClick can help!!

what type of control is it that you're trying to read the data from?
