This is hard to say, not because it's hard, but because I don't yet know what I'm missing, nor what I'm talking about... but I'm talking about it nonetheless. 😕

I can put a MsgBox on screen when, for example, my sound is either muted nor not, by having the Msgbox say "Muted" or other, but I'd rather teach myself how to put a more subtle indicator somewhere else on the screen, without the bulky, crude, message box and all its screen real estate--maybe a tiny, red capital "M" on the bottom right corner, almost imperceptible. The example is unimportant--just that it's giving information, but done elegantly instead of crudely.

What I don't know, and what I can't seem to figure out is what I need to learn to get to that point where I'm able to do what I want to do so that I have a new and different awareness of what I don't yet know... so I'll know about it and then be able to program things the way I want to do what I want.

I've looked at the FAQ, and I've experimented with a few things, but there's so much to AutoIt,  that I can't piece the pieces together just yet, and I'm bewildered by some of the intricate and detailed API content available.

I think what I'm trying to do is to create non-modal information displays. If that's accurate, a confirmation from those in-the-know would be really helpful, and then if you could point me in the direction (of Albuquerque--I just showed my age, there) I need to be going, that would be much appreciated.

Bonus points if you can cite the Albuquerque reference without Googling it.

You could do it with a tooltip or perhaps this UDF might be more of what you're looking for?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Moved to the appropriate forum, as the Developer General Discussion forum very clearly states:
