MightyWeird Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Hi, I am trying to understand how to pass the direcory names ($searchfordir1) to the function. (_isinstalled) Now it just loops over and over and crashes. (I think) It needs to look for specific folders and tell me if it is there or not. #include <MsgBoxConstants.au3> #include <WinAPIFiles.au3> Const $SearchFordir1 = @ProgramFilesDir & "aaaa" Const $SearchFordir2 = @ProgramFilesDir & "bbbb" _IsInstalled($SearchFordir1) _IsInstalled($SearchFordir2) Func _IsInstalled($DisplaydirName) Local $i = 1 _IsInstalled($DisplaydirName) $iFileExists = FileExists($DisplaydirName) If $iFileExists Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "The file exists." & @CRLF & "FileExist returned: " & $iFileExists) Else MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "The file doesn't exist." & @CRLF & "FileExist returned: " & $iFileExists) EndIf EndFunc
Moderators Melba23 Posted July 10, 2019 Moderators Posted July 10, 2019 MightyWeird, The @...Dir macros do not have a trailing backslash so you have to add it. And you are calling the function from within itself - this is known as recursion and usually leads to tears, see the Recursion tutorial in the Wiki to understand what is going on. This works for me: Const $SearchFordir1 = @ProgramFilesDir & "\aaaa" Const $SearchFordir2 = @ProgramFilesDir & "\bbbb" _IsInstalled($SearchFordir1) _IsInstalled($SearchFordir2) Func _IsInstalled($DisplaydirName) $iFileExists = FileExists($DisplaydirName) If $iFileExists Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "The file exists." & @CRLF & "FileExist returned: " & $iFileExists) Else MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "The file doesn't exist." & @CRLF & "FileExist returned: " & $iFileExists) EndIf EndFunc M23 Earthshine 1 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
