Increase W10 desktop resolution

I have a pc that runs an Autoit program and I access it remotely. Only rare times I use locally an old connected monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050.

Sometimes I make a desktop screenshot to get some pics inside a program that are scaled according to the desktop resolution.

I would like to increase the desktop resolution to have more detailed pics on the snapshot.

I tried with an autoit  func I found on the forum: _ChangeScreenRes()

But it works only upto the connected monitor max resolution...

 

So, is it possible someway to increase the desktop resolution over the max admitted for the monitor?

Other options?

Maybe using some different monitor drivers with higher resolutions?

Using a headless pc? (How to set the desktop resolution?)
